Hello Dreamer,

Can you believe it's already November!? Where did the year go?

This time of the year is a crucial point for Canadian Immigration for two main reasons:

  1. As the year draws to a close, the Immigration Minister traditionally outlines the forthcoming strategy for immigration, detailing the updated targets for welcoming new permanent residents to Canada, as well as any changes to the immigration system. This annual announcement is a roadmap that highlights future changes and opportunities for those aspiring to make Canada their new home.

  2. As the start of a new year approaches, we edge nearer not only to new beginnings but also to the resetting of immigration quotas—a pivotal moment for aspiring newcomers to Canada. Consider this: On January 1, 2023, the intake quota for the Caregiver Program was reached on the very first day! This instance underscores the fierce competition and the pressing importance of this period. It's a critical window for preparation, allowing you to position yourself advantageously within your chosen immigration pathway. Ensuring you're ready to apply as soon as the quotas open can be the deciding factor in successfully embarking on your Canadian journey.

Given these two facts, here is what I am going to cover in this blog post to help set you up for success:

Rejected?

If your immigration application is rejected, don't worry. My first attempt to migrate to Canada was denied, and I found myself in the "rejected" phase. After that experience, I immediately sought professional help. I didn't want to waste any more time or money trying to do it on my own again.

I strongly recommend getting the help of an Immigration Consultant to help you move out of this phase.

If you find yourself at a standstill in your immigration journey, it might be time to revisit the starting point and reassume the role of an "explorer." Going back to the basics can often provide new perspectives and unearth opportunities you may have previously overlooked, especially since the quotas will reset. International Student

International Students are near and dear to me since this is how my journey started. For months, I had been promising to give my audience my entire 5-year journey "From Foreign Student to Canadian Citizen." This promise led to my first book being published in August of 2022. Students, though you are already in Canada, this book is everything you need to know to bridge the gap between your student status and your Canadian permanent residency and/or Canadian passport.

It is available in several formats for your convenience:

Here's the latest video, where I shared the final chapter of the book. It covers 19 steps from being a student to becoming a citizen, and also includes a free PDF download:

There is also an extensive playlist just for international students with new videos added weekly:

Work Permit Holders

I consider this to be the point before permanent residency. I am guessing you are doing what it takes to accumulate express entry points? Or are you worried about not having enough points? Or are you pursuing another immigration pathway?

Your options for immigrating to Canada are many, but time may be running out to explore them. To give yourself the best chance, it's important to know where you stand in terms of your express entry points. If you are close to the required points and have more time to accumulate them, then you may be in good standing. However, Immigration Minister Marc Miller recently made a critical announcement that going to school in Canada or having a work permit does not guarantee permanent residency. This has always been the case, and the number of international students and PGWP holders compared to the immigration quota for each year means that not everyone will receive permanent residency. So, what can you do?

Firstly, see where you stand and get in the pools as early as possible, whether it's the express entry pool or the Atlantic Immigration Program queue. It's important to note that the immigration quotas reset on January 1st, so time is of the essence. To help you prepare, we've compiled some of the latest videos for you to watch.

I strongly recommend getting the help of an Immigration Consultant if you are worried about your points or the pathway is not very clear to you:

Settled Permanent Residents

My guidance to you today are questions that I think you may be asking yourself or that I would suggest you ask yourself:

  • Now that the immigration processes are mostly over, and you finally got what you came for, is all that you had hoped for and more?

  • Are you silently feeling unfulfilled, but you think you can't voice that without sounding ungrateful?

  • Did your career goals take a "back-burner position" while you pursued your immigration goals?

  • Like the flock of immigrations that are now leaving Canada, or are considering it, do you feel that way too? I once left Canada; I will share that story soon. Make sure you are subscribed to my YouTube channel to stay tuned.

If you answered yes to any of these questions, please connect with me via email - astoldbycanadianimmigrants@gmail.com. I too had answered positively to many of these questions when I reached the PR milestone. I had chosen to remain silent and grateful as I kept working towards my goal. However, I received a series of wake-up calls that brought me back to consciousness and intentionality.

I'm excited to soon offer content that draws from my own journey, designed to realign you with your aspirations and introduce alternative earning strategies for a richer, more satisfying life. Stay tuned for the reveal—I'm looking forward to guiding you through these transformative insights.

The Time Ninjas - Day Light Savings Time Change

I wanted to take a quick minute to update you on the recent time change. We've turned our clocks back one hour, a practice known as 'falling back' for daylight saving time. As a result, our local time is now aligned with Jamaica, and for some, this change may mean we're an additional hour apart from other time zones. It also means that it gets dark as early as 4 pm now, which is a little melancholic, but we shall overcome. We always do.

Wrapping It Up

As we wrap up this comprehensive guide, I want to leave you with a sense of preparedness and optimism. The journey of immigration is as diverse as the individuals undertaking it, and with the array of pathways and strategies laid out in this blog post, your Canadian dream is within reach. As the cold sets in and the days grow shorter, let it be a metaphor for the challenges that may seem to dim your hopes. Just as we adjust to the new times and find joy in the cozy evenings, adapt to the obstacles of immigration with resilience and determination.

Remember, each step you take, whether you're just beginning to explore your options or you're navigating the final stages towards permanent residency or citizenship, is a step closer to your goal. The Time Ninjas may have shifted the clock, but your timeline to success is still in your hands. Stay informed, stay inspired, and most importantly, stay in motion. Canada's welcoming spirit remains constant through every season and time change.

As the year's end approaches, it’s a powerful time to reflect and plan. Make use of the insights and resources provided here, engage with our community, and take bold steps towards your aspirations. If you're standing still in the dark, unsure of your next move, remember that even the longest journey starts with a single step.

Dare to Dream, Make a Plan, Take That Leap.

Your Canadian story is waiting to be written, and we are here to help you craft it, one successful chapter at a time.
